Area codes were recently noted in this digest as having the form
"N 0/1 N".  They can also have the form "N 0 1" (excluding the 800
toll-free service or 900 "dial-it" service).

[Some telcos, notably Pacific[*]Bell insist that (800) is NOT an
 area code. -elmo]
