[What, no RC-112A and RC-114? - dlp] "Longitudinal cracks have been found in the spars of several of the Gulfstream Aerospace (formerly Rockwell) singles. Total time on these aircraft varies from a low of 400 hours to a high of 3,000 hours. To repair the cracks involves reinforcing the spar in the area of the landing gear. Estimated cost of repairs runs as high as $5,000. Gulfstream has indicated that it does not plan to assist owners in paying for repairs at this time. But if the problem is determined to be fleet-wide, that decision may be reevaluated." FIVE GRAND??? Isn't this the same plane that has a seat-belt AD which has been temporarily suspended because it would cost the owners a few thousand to fix it? On a slightly different subject, the FAA is proposing an AD on the Cessna seat tracks. It would require inspection of the tracks, relocation of the seat stops, and a placard warning pilots to assure that the latch pins are engaged. Estimated cost, $100.
