Recommended. Soft- cover, $9.95. Signed, limited edition hardcover, $30.00. WILL EISNER'S NEW YORK will be published in late April. This trade paperback will retail for $10.95 and features vignettes of city life. The work was previously titled 'Big City' and was published in the old SPIRIT magazine. ELRIC graphic novel by Thomas, Russell, and Gilbert, adapted from Moorcock's novel. This will reprint the Pacific Comics adaption in one volume and will retail for $14.95. PRINCE VALIANT Book One by John Cullen Murphy, published by Blackthorne. "The heroic prince has never looked better than when drawn by the expert draftsman Murphy." Am I dreaming, or did Hal Foster once draw a page or two of PRINCE VALIANT? STAR HAWKS Book Two, by Goulart and Kane, published by Black- thorne. This book continues the exploits of interplanetary lawmen Jaxan and Chavez and their sarcastic robot hound, Sniffer. Trade $5.95, HC $14.95. This is enjoyable stuff, and Kane's art is very nice. DICK TRACY MONTHLY by Chet Gould begins this month from Black- thorne. Each issue will be 32 black and white pages for $2.00. THE ENCHANTED APPLES OF OZ by Eric Shanower, based on the books by Frank Baum. The story is new, not an adaption, and will be priced at $7.95. From First Books. BETTY BOOP Book Two from Blackthorne is $5.95 for trade and $14.95 for hardcover. THE COMICS JOURNAL #109 features Howard Chaykin talking about Time Squared, his new series of graphic albums from First. The Comics Journal "writes about comics as if they really mattered." I highly recommend this to all comic fans. $2.95 for 100 pages from Fantagraphics. Stop buying six Marvels and pick up TCJ instead. ADOLESCENT RADIOACTIVE BLACKBELT HAMSTERS in 3-D. $2.50 from Eclipse, written and drawn by Chin and Templeton. Did anyone actually like the first issue of this? At least the art, by Stig's Inferno creator Ty Templeton, will be enjoyable. WORLD OF WOOD #1 by Wally Wood with a cover by Dave Stevens. Finally, an Eclipse reprint worth reprinting. $1.75 on baxter. GARFIELD OUT TO LUNCH - his 12th book. $5.95 tradepaper. THE FISH POLICE #1 Reprint, $1.50. This is the latest 'hot' book, as speculators continue looking for the next Cerebus or Turtles. The prices on the first printing of this and other small press comics (SAMURI #1, for instance) seem very artificial to me. HOW TO PUBLISH COMICS by Gary Brodsky. Featuring "How To Publish Your First Comic - Starting With Nothing!"; How To Start Your Own Publishing Company - With No Money!"; "Distributors - What They Like... What They Don't Like"; and "Much, Much More!" $10.00 from Solson Publications. S-0-L-S-O-N: Sol's Son.
