 The following is a Marvel news release I received March 18, 1986.
 It was written by Steve Saffel, Marvel's Promotion Manager for Direct Sales.


                       JOHN BUSCEMA RETURNS
                     TO "THE WORLD'S GREATEST
                         COMICS MAGAZINE"

     John Buscema will once again lend his unparalled talents to 
 Marvel's premiere title as he takes up the pencilling and inking
 of THE FANTASTIC FOUR beginning with #297.

     More than 10 years after he relinquished the title's artistic
 reigns, John joins writer Roger Stern on the series.  "We're ex-
 pecting the kind of critical response we saw when John Buscema and
 Tom Palmer joined Roger on THE AVENGERS," FF editor Mike Carlin said.

     "John's classic style will ensure the kind of quality FF readers
 have come to expect," Mike said, "Even as he and Roger work to chart
 new paths for the team.  It's the perfect way to begin their second 
 25 years."

     Fans will get a sneak preview of John's FANTASTIC FOUR in the 
 special anniversary issue, #266.  He will be one of seven pencillers
 working on that 64-page special plotted by Jim Shooter and scripted
 by Stan Lee himself.  The other pencillers will by Barry Windsor-
 Smith, Ron Frenz, Jerry Ordway, Al Milgrom, Kerry Gammill and Mark
 Silvestri.

     Issue #296 features the conclusion of the "Search for the Thing,"
 and #297 introduces a new villain, Umbra, who is the result of the
 merging of two super-powerful beings, one good and one evil.  "Umbra
 is going to be one of the most powerful foes the FF has faced in a
 long time," Mike Carlin said, "And it's their fault he's on Earth."

    John Buscema's previous stint as regular FANTASTIC FOUR penciller
 ended with #141, though he has illustrated a handful of issues since
 then.  "His is one of the definitive renditions of the characters,"
 Mike said.  "It's good to have him back."
