My fiance works for them, on the GM account, so I could tell you my impressions. As I am looking for a job, I talked to some insiders there. The promisary (sp?) note stuff is true. They are very emphatic about the the hard work part. As for final job destinations, dunno. She did hear some mumblings, but nothing solid. Apparantly there is lots of friction between GM and EDS employees. GM employees blame everthing on EDS, or at least that's what I hear. EDS is not too interested in people with outside training, they would rather "Grow their own" -- I guess because it's cheaper. If you are trained in CS (i.e. BS or MS) you will still have to go through TONS of training, and not get paid any better than the art graduates they hire off the street. They expect a lot from everyone ( > 40 hours a week). There is a shortage of people inside the GM account, and they don't hire contracts, so if someone quits, tough. You get an untrained art student to fill the position. Needless to say, I will not be taking a job with them. She is quitting. Craig Neth -- uiucdcs!neth Disclaimer: I am not an EDS employee. My fiance is. I could be wrong.
