A joke? On this newsgroup?) It seems that one day, sadly enough, Kermit the Frog's luck finally ran out, and he found himself in a very severe financial situation. Now, as it just so happened, Kermit had a good friend, Jeannie, who worked at a bank, and even though she was only a teller, Kermit figured she might be able to get him in to see somebody about a loan. Unfortunately, Kermit didn't really have anything to offer as collateral except for this little knick-knack that he was given as a child (tadpole?). It was a ceramic pink elephant, probably not worth very much. But he went in to see the loan officer, Miss Patricia Wack, bringing Jeannie in with him for some moral support. Miss Wack was not at all impressed with the frog's desperate story. She was giving Kermit a really hard time, intimidating him and infuriating Jeannie. Finally, when Miss Wack asked Kermit what he had for collateral and he produced his little elephant trinket, she bellowed, "What the HELL is THAT?" And Jeannie, who'd had just about enough of this, said: "It's a knick-knack, Patty Wack, give the frog a loan!"
