We usually use the pet name scheme, with occassional uses of all three pronouns (he, she, and it) when the situation calls for one. Our pet names are many and varied, including Sparky, Jesus (hay-suess'), and others. The actual name that we will give it is much more normal sounding like Andrew, or Caroline.
