Ethernet connection questions:

I am currently working on a connection between some AT&T
3B2-300s running System V, release 2 and a Vax 11/780
running 4.2BSD over an Ethernet.  I thought that the Xerox
PUP protocol would be a good candidate since, for one thing,
it is already on the 780.  However, I will need something to
go on top of PUP.  I was thinking of implementing UDP or URP
(out of AT&T).  Has anyone had experience with such a
connection?  Please send any advice or comments to me via
