Doctors have isolated a virus that lives in clams and oysters that can cause gastro-intestinal problems. The study said that healthy people may or may not be harmed by the virus, but individuals with liver and immune diseases should not eat raw shellfish. Also, quick steaming of shell- fish will not kill the virus. You must steam the shellfish for about 5 to 6 minutes to kill the little buggers. Just thought you folks out there who eat raw clams and oysters would like to know this. Sharon Badian Me? I like my clams cooked, thank you. ihnp4!mtgzy!seb
