I've been teaching myself Informix (tm) by Relational Database Systems, Inc. for the last week. It's fairly easy to learn - I've set up some reasonable databases so far (and I'm no wiz!). It's basically a screen oriented relational database that incorporates some interesting features under Unix, such as 1) you can restrict access to entire databases, files, or even fields according to login group or login name; 2) if you have something to do that Informix can't handle, you can write a C program to do it and have Informix execute it appropriately. I haven't begun to explore Informix's capabilities or shortcomings, but it seems reasonable enough so far. Maybe someone on the net will add to this? Good luck! Keith
