Ouch!  I only keep two weeks worth of news on our machine, which is a
Sun-2/120.  It can do a uuxqt -> sh -c compress -d | rnews on a 50K batch
in about three and a half minutes (unloaded).  Guess I don't have anything
to complain about.  Once I saw someone type "la" (used to be a link to w, like
uptime) three times on the console of a VAX-11/750  that was having major
problems.  It looked something like:

root% la
load average: 27.48, 20.68, 15.34
root% la
load average: 54.23, 41.94, 33.74
root% la
load average: 81.23, 74.23, 64.23

panic: (some suicide note from the OS, in hex)

(crash, die, incinerate, more hex)
