I agree.  Net.rumour is NOT the place for all these Computer Horror
Stories, End_Of_The_Universe tales, et cetera.  Yes, they tend to be
interesting, and also are fun to read.  I get some good chuckles out
of them.  Where is the correct place?  I know.  It's not net.rumour.
It's not net.jokes.  It's not net.bugs.hardware.  It's net.bizarre.
