It tends to distract one from the attention needed to ensure that the plant has all the right environmental conditions to flourish. So talking nice to your plants may not be the direct and immediate cause of their well-being, but the associated positive attitude may go a long way in helping one to focus attention on such things as right water, right sunlight, right feeding, right leaf-washing, etc. (There are 8 rights that a plant is entitled to, right?
