Or do you consciously choose to go lie down and sleep, so you can be sure that you got as much sleep as you believe you need? Think about it. > The problem with getting less than > 8 hours is not so much that I can't function the NEXT day, but over a period > of time the lack accumulates until I sleep two or three 12 hour nights. That may be the best solution for YOU, but I'd much rather go to that party or go out on that date that is happening tonight only, and if I'm not missing anything on Saturday I'll sleep til noon if I feel like it. The whole point of this discussion was whether or not one could legitimately use need for sleep as an excuse to avoid a date. I still maintain that in the vast majority of cases where it is so used, it is a load of BS. Read what you wrote: "the *best* solution is to sleep 8 hours every night" (emphasis mine). By this, you acknowledge the existence of other possible ways to deal with the bilogical need for sleep. You CHOOSE to sleep 8 hours every night, you do not HAVE to. --Greg -- {ucbvax!hplabs | decvax!noao | mcvax!seismo | ihnp4!seismo} !hao!woods CSNET: woods@ncar.csnet ARPA: woods%ncar@CSNET-RELAY.ARPA "If the game is lost, we're all the same; No one left to place or take the blame"
