It's not only women who are encouraged to be less than the could. We all encounter sets of limitations presented to us all through our lives. We get these limitations from our parents, siblings, society, friends and any other number of places you care to mention. There is an infinite number of places in our lives that we learn about what we can and cannot do. It is up to each individual to discover those artificial limitations and overcome them as best they can. Sometimes you can identify a group of people (men, women, white, black, etc.) that have similar constraints as your own because of similar backgrounds or whatever. Having a group like this to identify with can help point the way towards solutions. But I find that ultimately each person has to find their own set of solutions that work best for them. We all accepted our limitations (for whatever reasons, I mean I've got some great reasons ;-)). It's up to each individual to let 'em go.
