This makes a bit of a puzzler for me. I always assumed that if I ask then I am planning to pay. If, as Peter says, `dutch' is assumed, then how can I make it clear from the beginning that I am offering to pay. I guess if the event is not dinner and/or a movie I could say "I have tickets to ...". On an older topic: If you are the sort (as I was in high school) who doesn't always notice that someone is interested, then STAY AWAY FROM REUNIONS. Hearing about the various classmates that were alleged to have crushes on me was very demoralizing! _____________________________________________________ Matt University crawford@anl-mcs.arpa Crawford of Chicago ihnp4!oddjob!matt
