Lines: 79 Of course, I can only speak for myself, Jody. Here goes. I was tagged with the handle of "Grizzly" back in '72 (That's 1972 for you wise guys(8-).) when I first moved up here by Chicago. I lived in farm country (alias, The Sticks.) before that and grew accustommmmmed (ooops.) to wearing bluejeans and chambry shirts. The first 8 weeks of my employment at Western Electric (Now AT&T Technologies) was spent in a familiarization class that taught me the ways of Ma Bell and its wierd curcuitry. I spent a lot of time burning the midnight oils and rarely took time to shave in the morning. I usually had about 3-4 days worth of brush and srubbery on my face. Ol' Grizzly still looks a little thataway. I have a beard now, but I've trimmed the hair up some and keep the beard trimmed too if it ain't winter(8-). Every little bit of fur helps if its 20 below outside. So, Ol' Grizzly is just a handle I picked up along the way. Ol' Grizzly's been around a while and seen a lot of things. (Most of 'em were pretty wierd things(8-).) Its really not like the handle doesn't fit either(8-). An Ol' cowpoke/dirt scratcher that turned computer hardware tweaker is still a country boy at heart. I still like ploddin' around in the woods and hunting and fishing. I still like driving my old pickup truck and like good sippin' whiskey. I don't like Coors worth a damn, but I like peach brandy and peppermint shnapps. I don't like to see men beat their women, but I don't mind whumpin' 'em over the head for it(8-). I believe that being drunk is not a good excuse for anything. A full grown man or woman should still have sense enough to keep his/her fingers out of the fire. Nope, Ol' Grizzly don't believe in treating the women folk bad. One of 'em is my Mother. I'll help 'em out with their cars and such. I could just save 'em a little cash that way. That's one reason I never like to get into a suit. I'd cost my self more money in cleaning bills than I could save a lady by working on her ride for her. I just prefer something I can wash at home. I don't mind hearing about men cooking, but most of the men I grew up around cooked somethin' a little more drinkable than cookies(8-). HICUP! I just love climbing on tractors and other farm gear just to show some smartass that I know more about it than he does(8-). See, I don't talk exactly like some of my postings. There are a few naive folks around here who don't know country boys do move to town sometimes. If I had my druthers though, I'd still live in the sticks. I hate to have neighbors looking out their window into mine. I may want to walk around in my "wears" or less in my own home. I also prefer open windows to a danged air conditioner, but how can I open windows without heaaring a lot of traffic noise and kids screaming? Oh well, I do get to get away and visit my folks once in a while. They still live in a town no bigger than a minute. Its nice and quiet and peaceful down there. I may just show up there this week- end(8-). What's the purpose in a nickname? Well, mine is a small part of my identity. Of course, facets of a person change some. People get new facets too. Well, maybe they gain some and maybe they just discover some they didn't know were there... Well, you folks will be just tickled to know that I've about run out of wind (hot air?) here. I think I'll finish my lunch and leave you in peace for a spell(8-). I'll be thinkin' of you folks while I'm walking through the timber by the "crick". Best, Tom "Ol' Grizzly" Frye
