Message-ID: <153@sdics.UUCP> Date: Tue, 11-Mar-86 20:30:49 EST Article-I.D.: sdics.153 Posted: Tue Mar 11 20:30:49 1986 Date-Received: Fri, 14-Mar-86 04:39:51 EST Organization: U.C. San Diego, Institute for Cognitive Science Lines: 22 I recently received a notice from United Airlines Mileage Plus (TM) to the effect that for 37500 mileage points (half the usual "price"), I can get a RT ticket from LA to Tokyo if I complete my travel before June 15. I plan to take advantage of this offer and I would like to make a trip to Shanghai to visit a friend if I can do this cheaply. The problem is that tickets in the US for Japan-China flights appear to be quite expensive since no advance purchase (APEX or Supersavers) tickets seem to be available in this country for flights originating in Japan. In fact, it seem that I can fly more cheaply from the US to China than from Japan (assuming I buy my ticket here)! So here is my question for netland: Does anyone out there have information regarding discount fares or charters from Tokyo-Shanghai (or Beijing or Hong Kong for that matter)? I would especially be interested in dealing with an organization in the US -- perhaps the Japan Tourist Board... ? I hope to make arrangements soon, so please respond before too long. Thanks in advance. Paul Munro ARPA: munro@nprdc UUCP: ...!{decvax,ihnp4,ucbvax}!sdcsvax!sdics!munro
