The current Sunday New York Times (March 16, 1986) has a new edition of
The Sophisticated Traveler, a magazine supplement with essays on travel
subjects.  The theme of this issue is "Adventure" and contains many
excellent pieces.  Check it out.

By the way, these supplements are collected in hardcover editions, but it
is probably cheaper to get the original magazine copy when it comes out.
