I hadn't heard that news, but if you are planning to do much visiting of National Parks, it would be worthwhile to buy a Golden Eagle card. For $10 you get free admission to *all* NPS parks (i.e. National Parks and National Monuments) for the rest of the year - a bargain! Most 'major' parks now charge $3 per car for entrance. You can buy a Golden Eagle 'at the door' instead of this $3. There's probably a way to buy one buy mail, too - contact National Parks Service, Dept. of the Interior.
