He didn't leave with particularly bad feelings, but he wasn't available at the time of the filming. That cameo was stolen from Shada which was never completed because of a strike. Also, the first doctor (W. Hartnell) was not really there either as he had died prior to the filming. They used a lookalike for his part. While I've brought it up (or have I?).
