The Hi-Fi sounds works very well, gross overkill for anything broadcast. The sound squelches on blank channels, a Godsend when playing recorded tapes. This unit features HQ circuitry which produces an improved picture at EP, semi-acceptable on my Kloss projection unit. Still frame and slo-mo are almost noiseless at SP and EP, but there is an annoying several seconds delay in activating still frame and/or slo-mo. The MTS decoder gives considerable hum on both Stereo TV stations at times, particularly on applause. This problem has been reported elsewhere, and on other decoders, and may be endemic to the process. It's most noticeable on Johnny Carson. The recording timer allows selection of source (TV, simulcast, Line) and recording speed for each selection.
