Message-ID: <1208@ulysses.UUCP> Date: Tue, 18-Mar-86 21:48:07 EST Article-I.D.: ulysses.1208 Posted: Tue Mar 18 21:48:07 1986 Date-Received: Wed, 19-Mar-86 05:32:36 EST Distribution: net Organization: AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill Lines: 22 Xref: watmath net.unix-wizards:17264 net.wanted:8423 I have before me a rather nice box (a CCI Power 6/32, but let's not start advertising for them, shall we) about to have a large amount of disk capacity descend upon it. Unfortunately the Analysts, along with their 150,000 tapes of data, have decreed that they'll stick to the (slower) 11/785s unless there's some way of reading in the afore- mentioned data. Preferably not across the Ethernet. .P We presently have a 25ips (if that) 1600bpi Cipher taking up space. We *need* something like 120+ips, 6250/1600bpi start-stop. Our present controller is for a Multibus, with an adaptor (the correct titles are: Ciprico TAPEMASTER with a Helvetta Engineering adaptor). Education regarding straight VersaBus or `safe' combinations of foreign boards and adaptors will be appreciated, and/or descriptions of standard interfaces to real tape decks. -- Andrew Wild.
