Don't know if your Toyota is like this, but my Honda Prelude has a rubber
"doughnut" that sits on top of the strut, between the strut and the body.
Originally it was glued to the strut but one of them became unglued when I 
put new struts in, and now it squeaks going over sharp bumps, etc.  Could be
somewhat of a similiar situation with your Toyata.  Worth a peek, anyways.
