Engineering School maintains several VAX-750s running 4.2bsd Unix for use by Engineering students and faculty. We run the Berkeley CAD tools package (magic, spice, peg ...) on a few of these machines. The CAD tool _magic_ has bumped the apparent system memory limit of 6 MBytes for a single process. We have had programs bump this limit before, but always shrugged it off because they were easily fixed to use less memory. Can any wizard out there tell me how we can get around this limit? We have about 45 MBtyes of swap space, and I know that the swap and page spaces were not full at the times these error occured. Please reply by email, I will summarize if sufficient interest obtains.
