I had a terrifying experience playing hack last night.  I found a ring
from a previous character's ghost.  I had forgotten that it might be
cursed, so I put it on.  It was cursed, and it was a ring of
levitation, which meant I could no longer reach the ground (and any
food, treasures, etc.).  Of course, I couldn't take it off.  At first,
I didn't know what to do, but finally it dawned on me to attack a
Nymph stripped of everything except the ring.  The problem was finding
one.  I had to go up several levels (down was out of the question)
before I found one.  It worked, but only because I did not posess
anything except for the ring.  The Nymph stole it, and I am now back
on the ground.

Needless to say, I almost destroyed the terminal I was playing on when I 
found I couldn't take the ring off.  Calmer heads prevailed, and the 
terminal still functions.
