First: People who are asking what ROT13 is probably just want to know how to read the rotted stuff. Don't confuse them by telling them about tr or shell scripts -- all they have to do when in readnews is type D in response to an article that proclaims itself rot13ed. If they really want to rot things themselves, postnews guides you through this process. Second: Why don't we dispense with ROT13 entirely? Let's admit the fact that everyone either wants to read the stuff, or can reject the article based on the 'offensive' subject keyword heading. ... or is it that rot13 is a cherished part of net.jokes lore and custom that no one can bear to give up...? -C.
