The problem is older than that.  We copied the Arabic convention of writing
numbers from right to left, but not English text.  If we could just go back
and rewrite with the least significant digit on the left, or writing natural
language from right to left, things would be consistent.  Do the Israelis and
Arabs have all these problems?
