The solution is quite simple. I got a Wren II (56 MB ala the atasi drive). This is the same drive used in the larger version of the 3b1 UNIX PC. This is a full height drive and sucks far too much power to use the UNIX PC power supply. My fix is to buy the drive, replacement ribbon cabling(24"), and an I*M PC power supply (a cheaper variety ~50 bucks). This works great and the drive is quite silent...
