Lines: 19 Keywords: PASCAL Summary: LPI Pascal fails miserably on large programs. In response to the query about Pascal compilers for the 7300: I purchased LPI Pascal and found it to fail rather miserably on large programs. I tried to compile several large (~10,000 lines, 100 procedures) programs, but the compiler choked in its optimization phase, aborting with an "internal compiler error" (approximately) message. When I turned off the optimizer, the programs compiled, but would not execute, causing a "segmentation fault". I called the Hotline and was told that the compiler cannot handle large programs, and I must break them up into several smaller files and compile them separately. Well, I tried this in the way they described, but still couldn't get my programs to run. I was also told that LPI had no intentions of fixing this. So, for large programs, maybe there is another compiler that will work. Anybody know? ---------------- Robert Netzer Arpa: netzer@crys.wisc.edu UW-Madison Comp Sci Dept Uucp: ...!ihnp4!uwvax!geowhiz!attpcrn!rob Madison, Wisconsin
