(Forgive me if this has been gone through before:  I am a recent
entrant into this here newsgroup.)

Well, are there?  What I'm asking I guess is whether there is
anything similar to UN*X's `eqn' and `tbl'  programs available for
the Mac.  I realize these programs are *far* from user-friendly,
but for me they are one heck of a lot easier to type in and give
better looking results than what one can do conventionally with the
Mac.  For example, how does one center an equation *and* put an
equation number on the same line flush with the right margin?
`Eqn' does this automatically.  Also, `eqn' automatically makes
subscripts two point sizes smaller and subsequently doesn't have
these weird line spacings where subscripts appear.  And I don't
have any idea on how to format tables on the Mac except by using a
lot of trial and error.

Do similar programs exist for the Mac?
