I've heard that the SCSI protocol is a superset of sasi, but the extra's are not needed for harddisk usage. If true, does Apple use the extra SCSI extra's? The reason I'm asking is that a friend of mine has a harddisk with a Xebex 1410 sasi controller card. He would like to use it with his Mac+. Is it possible ? 2) Can someone e-mail me the PINNING of the Macintosh' SCSI connector ? 3) Suppose the Xebex controller card can be connected to the SCSI port: how 'bout software ? What steps must be undertaken to get a drive of another brand (but ST506-compatible) up and running ? 4) On a show a year ago I saw a 3.5" 20 MB harddisk with built-in SASI controller; I think it was called the OWL. Is it (or alikes) still for sale ? what are the current prices ? Please e-mail me if you like. I will post a compilation of answers of general interest. - Henq
