Wow!  I de-quichified a System 3.1.1 on one of my disks.  
Benchmarked by eyeball, lots of things go a lot faster! Particularly 
the boot process. (Perhaps in part due to reduced System file size?) Clearly
not loading a lot of this old stuff is a big win.  I even ran some 
games, and noticed no problems, though I am sufficiently concerned 
about the warnings that I won't put this on any of my working disks. 
I'd like to hear a more detailed explanation of what's going on.
I would like to make this my normal system file--unless it may cause
future disasters.  My current thinking is that if it works with my
applications, and it doesn't crash, then it is probably ok.

Many thanks to Darin Adler for posting this, even if it's an early 
version.  Are there, in fact, additional features that could be 
enabled in a similar manner?  I did seem to see some font scaling, 
even though the source indicates that this will be disabled.  I had 
gone too far, and removed Geneva-9 from my system file, and something 
was scaled to take its place in the names under icons.  What does 
turning off font scaling do for you?  I don't like the ugly 
appearance.
