With all the brouhaha about the date and menu blink controls being removed from
the new control panel, the following comments may help:

1)  The PRAM demo application, posted to net.sources.mac many moons ago, does
    all the missing functions for you.  It is shareware, if enough desire is
    expressed I would be willing to post it there again in PackIt II.

2)  Since the menu blink parameter is in battery backed-up RAM, and since the
    clock is also battery backed-up, once you set these you won't need to set
    them again until something happens to the battery (or the clock drifts).
