For those unfamiliar with a FOG index it is not used to measure the density of fog in SanFrancisco but instead to measure the complexity level of written text. The index is based on the size of words and sentences used in a document. Typically the sports page of you local newspaper has a FOG index of 5 or 6, the business section 11 or 12 and the society section 7 or 8.
