Sorry Brian, but as a site that does not get all groups, I can tell you that there is a problem with your suggestion. If I remove net.abortion from my active file, every time an article comes into my machine with net.abortion in the newsgroups line (because it was crossposted with a group my site does receive) inews will put an error message in the errlog file. And since my .profile checks the errlog file when I login, this would be very annoying.
