I concur with your point 100%! (and we all know how painful that can be)

Just a side note:

The unshar I use strips off the header all by itself.
(Perhaps it should "look" for ``funny business'' as well :-)

I must admit I have unshar-ed files without looking at them closely.
So far I've been lucky - I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.
