More and more, the research in this area shows that there is a high incidence of skin melenomas with increased exposure to the sun. In addition to cancer, the skin dries out, wrinkles, and ages prematurely. A doctor will tell you that a good tan is a sign of the skin trying to protect itself from the sun, and is in effect an unhealthy state to be in. Sorry to dampen all you sun worshipper's parades, but in this 'enlightened' age of health oriented atti- tudes, I just couldn't resist telling it like the meds say it is. One more thing, the premature aging of the skin is irreversible, once wrinkled always wrinkled. On an upbeat note, most skin cancers are usually very curable. By the way, I'm not with out vices, I'm a smoker, regrettably so. I hate it, I don't advocate it, I don't lie to myself about the dangers, and I want to quit as much as I've ever wanted anything. I just wish my only vice was sunbathing, I believe it would be much easier to quit that then smoking. I love the sun, I feel gerrrreat when I'm out in it, but I just can't bring myself to pour oil all over my body and cook in it for three or four hours a day. 8-) ray
