Well, I know Laura Watson (burl!lkw) somewhat (although I've never had the pleasure of interrogating her ;-), and I can say with authority that she is as genuinely modest as you say -- and her postings make her intelligence and fun nature self-evident. But why be modest? I get lots of important neck muscle exercise just holding my swollen head up here at my terminal all day. I get arm muscle exercise from holding this large mirror up in front of me at regular intervals all day.
