Until recently, I have never tried to use them (who would??? :-) ), but it would appear to be a device driver problem. I am using 4.2 on a VAX 750. If I format a floppy in either drive, I can not format another in THAT drive (rx0 or rx1) until I have rebooted. rxformat reports "Mount device busy". Powering down and up the drive does no good. If I try to mount a floppy (that has had a file system made on it via mkfs), it usually works, but will occassionly (20%) crash the VAX with a protection fault. Other times it will generate a stray interrupt on the uba that locks out the last DZ board on the UNIBUS (dz7), regardless of whether the command was issued from a terminal on the DZ board or not. The latter also occurs when I (try to) use tar on the RX02. All boards in the VAX are at "standard" addresses and vectors. I seen the buglist compiled by Mt. Xinu, but no bugs in vaxuba/rx.c are reported. Has anyone ever had this problem or know any part of the solution? Please send responses by mail. Thanks in advance. --brad ARPA: uclachem!bhl@locus.ucla.edu UUCP: ...{ucbvax, inhp4}!ucla-cs!uclachem!bhl
