I am trying to build gnuemacs 17.55 on an AT&T 3B5/301 with 4MB memory
running "UNIX System V Release 2.0.1 3B5 Version 2".

I have not been able to complete the build steps and would like to
contact anyone who has managed to create a running version of the
package to discover the secrets of success.
