A question for all the hardware hacks out there:

I want to learn all about disk drives - both hard and floppy,
how they work, control mechanisms, data transfer protocols, etc.
In other words, absolutely anything to do with the beasts!

Any tips, pointers, etc. are most welcome! If I get enough responses,
which in this case will be more than two, I'll gladly summarize to the net.
Any type of reference to a (gasp!) textbook that covers this sort of thing
would make me ecstatic.
