I have a 1983 CB650SC and in the 14K miles I have put on it have been extremely happy. It gets ~45 mpg and has hit an honest 110 mph. The bike; however, has a couple a bug I have found: If you don't ride for over two weeks the carbs are due for a good cleaning. This is much too short in the area I live in because the weather in northern NJ is to say the least funky. One suggestion I have for equiping you bike if you get the 650 is a good set of aftermarket shocks. The ride w/ the stock dampers is not what you would generally call cushy.
