This would seem to be a necessary first step to developing standards. Perhaps then we could have keyboards optimized for UNIX, for text input, etc. Of course, that could lead to proposals for keyboards optimized for EMACS, vi, lisp, etc. At any rate, it would give some objective data to use in making designs.
