Our Berkeley Pascal is version 3.0.  When I attempted to dbx
an a.out file compiled with pc -g option, dbx tells me
that a.out has "old-style symbol information".
In addition, dbx doesn't print variables in the correct type.

Is there a newer pc version which produces good symbol tables
for dbx?
