Course Description: The course includes lectures on object oriented programming concepts; the Smalltalk-80 system, structure, and implementation; details of the Smalltalk language; introduction to existing Smalltalk code; the debugger; the graphics interface; the model-view-controller paradigm; and change management. Lectures will alternate with hands-on lab sessions covering the Smalltalk-80 user interface; the tools for program design, development, and debugging; and the change management subsystem. Participants will use Tektronix 4404 Artificial Intelligence Systems for the lab assignments. Necessary Background: Participants should have experience with a high level programming language.
