The lead time for a magazine can be as much as three months, and before that you have a lead time for the advertising agency. A lot can happen during that time, and it can be extremely expensive for a company to pull an ad because a minor portion of it is in error. If a company waits until a product is released before starting an ad campaign for it, they will lose 3-6 months of time on the market, and may just miss the market window completely. It's an imperfect world.
