I swapped P.C. boards with the other drive, and the problem persists. Ohmmeter readings show the head to be okay, no faulty wires or connectors. I cleaned and re-cleaned the heads with trichlorotrifluoroethane and foam swabs. Visual inspection with dental mirrors shows nothing unusual. No scratches. No broken spring mountings. I see little else to do but to have the drive repaired professionally. Where can I do this? Has anybody ever sent a drive to be repaired? And no, Radio Shack is not an acceptable answer. Jeff 'the pains of homebrewing' Skot {ihnp4 | allegra | cbosgd} attunix ! jeffj P.S. I don't have an oscilloscope nor easy access to one, so I can't replace and align the head myself.
