My UNIX pc can emulate a VT100 (although this doesn't seem to work over the serial port using async_main). Nevertheless, the Data General is extremely fussy about the terminal types on which it will deign to run the vi editor. Does anybody have a Data General Terminal Emulator that might run under unix? I am presently using raw s4 terminal mode via /usr/bin/cu with abilities limited to that of a glass TTY. A specialized version for the UNIX pc would be spiffy, but I recognize that is a lot to ask.
