Does anybody know how to "attach" a program to the mail icon on the UNIX
PC?  That is, when the mail icon appears at the top of the screen and
you select it with the mouse, how can I get a program to be invoked
(say, Mail) instead of that pop-up window telling me I've got mail.  I
know it can be done because I had a version of electronic mail that did
this.  Unfortunately, a bug in that program makes it unusable for my
purposes.

Undoubtably, this piece of information is well documented -- I just
cannot find it.

Since the answer is probably of interest to lots of people, please post
